Anatoly Babenko received his professional ballet training and graduated from the Kiev Ballet Academy, Ukraine in 1978. Following graduation, he worked first at the Rubina’s Jewish Ballet Theatre, later joined the Shevchenko National Theatre of Opera and Ballet, Kiev, Ukraine, where he performed in many ballets as a principal dancer, while touring with the company to Japan, Germany, Italy, France, Syria, India, Cuba, Yugoslaviya, etc.
1990-1992 Anatoly works at the National Theatre, Novi Sad, Yugoslaviya. In 1993 he moves to South Africa on the invitation from the PACT Ballet Company, eventually becoming it’s Senior Soloist, where he worked until 2001. In 1999 Anatoly Babenko has been awarded The State Theatre Ballet Award for Excellence.
In 1996-2001, while still performing, Anatoly teaches Classical Ballet at the National School of Arts, Johannesburg and at the PACT Ballet School.
Throughout the following years, Anatoly received training in:
– Fitness & Aerobics, Austrian Fitness & Aerobics School (2001),
– Dance Teaching & Choreography, State Academy of Arts and Culture, Ukraine (2001-2003),
– Gyrotonics, International Gyrotonics & Gyrokineses Headquarters, New York (2004).
Anatoly Currently teaches Classical Ballet at the University of Pretoria and Partnering and Gyrotonics at Russian School of Ballet.
