The Russian Ballet Method will give dancers a stronger precision, technical clarity and artistry in their class work and performance. Students will immerse themselves in the education of dance and the Russian Method, which has trained the best ballet dancers in the world. They will learn how to work with their own bodies by accentuating their strengths, and by strengthening their weaknesses. This intensive program allows students to experience what it takes to become a professional dancer, and to help propel them towards their goals. An exciting opportunity to increase skill, knowledge, technique, and endurance.
Alexei Ilin and Elena Kukseva both graduated from the Vaganova Academy as teachers. Alexei is presently working at the Academy, coaching advanced levels, including graduates. Elena is teaching in a prestigious private ballet school, specializing in intermediate levels.
Small Classes with Personal Attention
Classes are limited to 16 students, to ensure extensive personal attention for every dancer. Groups will have 3 – 4 classes a day, including Classical Ballet Technique and Variations , Points, Character Variations, Contemporary, Jazz, Ballet Conditioning, Historical Dance.
All applicants will be divided in two groups: Juniors and Seniors, according to their technique level. Assessment will take place first day of the Winter Intensive.
The 2 weeks session will culminate in a final performance Saturday, 25 August, 3.00pm, with all students taking part. The performance will give participants an opportunity to showcase the repertoire acquired during the program. While all participants will be featured, the extent of one’s participation in the performance may be based, in part, on merit, student’s participation in class throughout the program, and artistic decisions involved in the performance’s planning.
